Ten Days

Every day, when I cross the bridge to the island to my studio and return, I observe the metamorphosis of the same landscape into a new, non recognizable view.

From October 2023 to March 2024 I took photos at the same point on the bridge, almost every day. A kind of visual diary of an action, repeating itself regularly, was created: I walk, I stop, I take a photo, I walk.

With help of the camera the turn of time appears to stop for the fraction of a second. At the moment a picture is being taken, a union between myself and my surroundings occurs, as it is seen through the camera lens.

I decided to prepare a series of paintings and not to keep the project as a photographic one. Through painting I can reinforce the impression of individuality in the state of landscape through my view. Thus the mechanical fixation of a moment by a camera turns into art through the transfer onto the canvas, and the captured second becomes timeless.
