After I once saw a huge number of lasts hanging from the ceiling in a house in Lindau, where two generations of shoemakers called Schlegel worked, I was instantly fascinated by them.
I was impressed by the individuality of each pair, the sophistication of its shape, natural yet functional, like the forcola of a gondola, unique, like a work of art. Despite the names and numbers written on them, they remained unrecognisable to me, full of untold stories.
And then I decided to make up new stories for them.
For me, the Lasts turn into participants in distinct situations and relationships. It turns out how much the position of the feet one to another matters, from which a dialogue in various contexts may arise.
The first part of the works treats human relationships, the characterization of certain states of being and the psychology of relationships.
The second part is my personal reflection, about the events taking place nowadays. The situation may seem hopeless, but nevertheless I hope that one day I will magically write a new, more positive story through my Lasts.
